Cool @Former-Member
Can I ask where the MH part comes in so you can be a peer guide?
Bachelor of Health Science - Nutrition.
Aww, thank you @Former-Member, that means a lot.

@Birdofparadise8 the shelves were pretty bare when I went in to Coles today, they didn't have the 10l bottles of water I buy and they were out of my mocha sachets as well. And like you say, no sales unless I want to buy chocolate for Easter.
I can't give you my secret recipe! Then everyone will know it!!
I have a rice and risotto cooker that does everything so you are probably better off looking online for a recipe. I don't add peas and this recipe evolved over time. We had some crème fraiche that we didn't know what to do with so I just chucked it into the risotto. Honestly, everyone raves about it, kids and adults alike.
I can mock up a recipe for you if you like but I am not sure how to cook it on the stove or in the oven.

I am loving it @Birdofparadise8 ! 😀😀🙌🏻🌺
thanks so much for sharing - that’s soo much fun to see the different components (proteins, carbohydrates, and fats) reacting with the reagents… I love science 😀🙌🏻💜
if you ever have more experiments in prac class that you’d like to share, please do tag me in, if that’s ok?
I’m really enjoy reading about it ☺️🌺👏🏻

For sure @Birdofparadise8 🙂🌺
As an OT, I was trained in MH as part of the degree, because many OT’s work in the area of MH… keeping in mind the definition of OTpy is to maximise function while minimising barriers, in all aspects and across the lifespan, focusing on quality of life as the central locus of person centred practice.
This ethos sat very well with me, because I love equality and seeing people having opportunities to maximise their life in their own way 🙂🌺💜
So, using these philosophies, I worked in adult support as a volunteer, helping people after MH admissions get used to being back in the community: home life stuff, finding connections in community, and helping with reinvigorating job skills before looking for work. Often the people I worked alongside didn’t have family, so I felt it was essential to find a way to help them get as close to what they wanted to do as possible. We also used to do art projects of expression which were profoundly insightful and beautifully unique 🙂🌺
And, from there, I have always been interested in volunteering, and supporting in the area of mental and emotional health. I had health and life changes that contributed to me not working, however I like to be productive and do things, so I was very pleased and thankful to be a part of the SANE Peer Guide volunteer program 🥳🌺
Ask me any questions if you have them 💜🙂
Ah - BHSc Nutrition; now I see why you’re in the lab conducting those intriguing experiments on nutrients! ☺️🌺
🫂💜🌺🙂

@Birdofparadise8 Honestly, it's just your basic chicken and leek risotto but just before I serve it I add crème fraiche. I don't add any extras like mushrooms or peas, just 2 chicken breasts, 1 leek and a cup of arborio rice. I sauté the sliced leek, add diced chicken, 2 cups of chicken stock and then about a cup of rice, then let the cooker do its thing. Just before I serve up I add parmesan and stir it through, then the creme fraiche and stir it through. It adds a creaminess to the risotto.
I've no doubt as a chef you would have a risotto recipe you could use 😃
I have every kitchen appliance known to man, it's like an addiction. I went into Retravision and they saw me coming. I went in to replace my $25 rice cooker and left with a new $80 (I think) rice and risotto cooker. I didn't use the risotto setting for ages and then thought I'd try it and bam! Risotto is a regular guest in my house! My Godson loved it and would be asking for seconds before he'd finished his first serve!

Ah, okay, that makes sense. @Former-Member
Can I ask then if you have had any MH issues yourself or someone you care for?
OMG one of my roommates makes this most annoying noise and she won't shut up.
Then they left these dishes for so long. Other than the blue container with a clear lid in the tray. It's so frustrating.
