Something’s not right

Is meaningful change possible

Re: Is meaningful change possible

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

Sure no worries, for me it's taken me many years to be able to study full time. I tried before but my attention would trail off into something else, I find it very hard to stick to one thing. Even now I detect rogue thoughts giving me ideas to start another course but I know my pattern and I stay on track. They say when you hit mid thirties, ADD becomes a bit easier to deal with because the brain matures some how - this is true for me, I still struggle but it's a bit easier to be consistent.

In regards to your husband having the TV on, yes I need a white noise in my bedroom to sleep, also having a non specific machine noise does help me concentrate on other tasks but oddly, I cannot concentrate on other things if the TV is on in the background it drives me bonkers! Especially when adverts come on! Everyone's ADD is different though I believe. Have I interpreted your question correctly?

Yes @Dothemo .... thank you. It sounds like this might be another piece of our puzzle .....

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Is meaningful change possible

Hi @Dothemo .... 😊💕

I have another question for you .... does physical activity help to calm your thoughts ?  I am thinking that maybe splitting your attention by means of doing something repetetive can help focus your attention on another mental "channel", so to speak .... for instance .... whether squeezing a stress ball can help you to concentrate on studying ?

I expect there are strategies you apply to help direct your attention to the outcomes you want to achieve.

What has helped you the most ?
