Garden Club

I know we have probably done this kind of thread to death but I’m thinking a restart for 2024… I can’t find the old threads.

SANE GARDEN CLUB IS BACK

Welcome,

It is now spring, prime time!!

Tell us here, what are you growing, what do you hope to grow, do you need some tips or advice?

I am here to help, your resident Gardener 🌱

Re: Garden Club

I am not great at gardening @ArraDreaming  but so much stuff is a bit out of control now that winter is over.  Now that the weather is starting to turn a bit nicer and I don't have many excuses not to get out and do something,  I may have a lot of question for our resident gardener soon.

Re: Garden Club

Hi @ArraDreaming I'm enjoying my flowers. Native frangipani and yellow bearded flag irises are at their peak. Roses, a pink Emu bush and native flax lily are nice too.  White primulas. My pink snapdragons are going to flower again after pruning by possums (I don't mind).

Re: Garden Club

My tip for you @MJG017 when you pull out a weed (from a garden bed) plant a seed
Just drop one in

Re: Garden Club

@ArraDreaming  What about weeds in a clear area like dirt.  I may  have to take a photo of them  They come out and send the long 'tendrils' out in all directions.  I've sprayed blackberry killer (?) and that kills them eventually but they just keep coming back.

Re: Garden Club

Yes @MJG017 a photo would be good
What’s news for everyone else’s gardens??

I was just watching gardening Australia and they mentioned wheat grass is good for the garden

Re: Garden Club

@ArraDreaming I have some pots to plant out (some being cuttings and divisions). And I'll need to repot some orchids

My celery is going up to seed. I thought I'd lost my parsley but it's reshooting from the roots.

I should try to get a tomato plant or two.

Re: Garden Club

It’s so lovely

I found this post. I rent but I have still managed to create even when the space is not my own.

this spring my front garden has popped with reds. Red azalea, hydrangeas and  lily like thing that my previous neighbours put bulbs in for me.  Snap dragon maybe?
I have also cultivated Nasturtiums which I’m very proud of. When we left our old place three years ago I collected the seeds and put those in a cup with potting mix. Then from that original plant I took more seeds and sprinkle md directly into the bed. We have a couple of sing birds who visit who turn the soil for us (Kylie and Jason because I’m very  original)

out back is a bit of a mess I’ve a few pots of succulents and one mirror bush but it’s a very small court yard and we have a huge plain tree overhanging our fence so constantly sweeping and in constant shade.  Not sure what to do with that space

Re: Garden Club

Good on you for nurturing the rented space @lostNclueless .

I haven't seen nasturtiums for years  - when I was a kid I had nasturtium leaf and Vegemite sandwiches.

Dry shade can be difficult. I have herringbone fern as a ground cover in one spot.

Re: Garden Club

hey garden club!

so as i mentioned to @ArraDreaming yesterday, i had an indoor plant that i think is dying... my own fault for forgetting to water it for pretty much most of the autumn & winter season... any tips on reviving my indoor plant?
