Garden Club

Re: Garden Club

I think that sort of succulent is pretty forgiving @rav3n and can get a reddish tinge in older leaves without harm. I'd put the whole pot in a bucket of water and let it soak slowly as soil that's too dry can become water repellent.  Then you can go back to looking after it normally.

What do you think @ArraDreaming ?

Re: Garden Club

I am going to go backwards here as I have a few responses to write

Hey @rav3n
Start by watering it, lol.

It looks like you have a ceramic pot under the plastic pot it came in is that right?
does the ceramic pot have any drainage… it may not, or may be plugged.
That means it’s not getting proper drainage… causing root rot which is a huge factor in succulents drying. The other name for this is bottom up death… it means the soil has had a chance to stay moist for too long and the roots just keep sucking up the water. I get the feeling it’s suffered bottom up death and then now you have stopped watering it it does not know what is going on.

can you take the black pot out of the equation or see if it has a plug, take that out if so.

It needs some drainage.

I am mindful now if you start watering if full bore after being dry or after root rot then being dry again, it will freak out… so start with a little, I revived one at ours just with a spray bottle around the roots

Cut off the dead bits around the edge it will taking energy and trying to use it on those bits

Does it get much light?

Re: Garden Club

thank you both so much for the tips @Dimity @ArraDreaming appreciate it heaps!!

@ArraDreaming yep there's no drainage in the ceramic pot, only the plastic one. didn't know about 'bottom up death' till now, will focus on improving the drainage. i've watered it a lil today, and i'll cut of the dead bits tonight. and yes it does get a good amount of light.

Re: Garden Club

Roots will need some tlc and possibly a trim, will DIY this for you later on @rav3n will tell you what to do

Re: Garden Club

@RachSANECEO above advice, take note

These poor plants from the both of you

I wish these plants knew this is what they were signing up fot when they excitedly left the plant shop. DEATH by neglect
maybe some chance of survival, maybe not, living in limbo

Re: Garden Club

Um, ah... the plant cannot come to the phone right now. its ...resting...in the backyard.

Re: Garden Club

At least give it the dignity and just put it in the green waste bin, let it rest in peace. @RachSANECEO
At least it is a sad reminder to you that you could of done better 💔💔💔

Re: Garden Club

@rav3n can you please take the plant out of the pot and get a photo of the roots

Re: Garden Club

@rav3n how is everything going?

Re: Garden Club

hey @ArraDreaming so the update on my plant... my mum's taken it 😆

not sure where she's hiding it at the moment. after i told her i'm trying to revive it, she took matters into her own hands. i have a feeling it's in the backyard somewhere, gotta wait till she's home to get a proper update.
