Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

Re: Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

@hanami

Hello.

I'm really having a bit of a hard time deciding about going back to a private MH hospital.

Hi @down_not_out

I can understand that. It's a big decision to make. The private  MH hospitals in my area are amazing and have really good programs. Are they the same where you are?

Have you made a list of pros and cons to try to help you make a decision?

This is a really good one down here that I have spent time in before and know all the people that work there. It is about as comfortable as it gets. The thing is that I am probably too unwell for private and too well for public. If that makes any sense?

Also, my doc will want to put me on some sort of meds. I don't want to be on anything anymore. The only thing that will work on this severe agoraphobia is a benzo and I don't want to take them anymore.

Totally makes sense to me

@down_not_out

And the medication thing - yep you're right, they will want you on medication. It sounds like there needs to be an in-between type rehab place where there are MH nurses, and psychologists, but not psychiatrists who will medicate.

I'm sorry you're facing this challenge. I can totally understand.

It means so much to me that you understand. I cannot emphasise this enough.

Could you imagine how broke a private hospital that treats benzo victims would be?

These places want you to be well in a four-week block.

I really don't know what the heck to do. (polite as I can say it)

The top of my head is getting so sore from where I constantly did at it from protracted withdrawal.

Re: Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

@down_not_out You're right. They do want you better in four week blocks 😥

Yeah I'm thinking that's a really polite way to put it. I would be walking around my house thinking wtf do I do!

I get it.

Don't be too hard on yourself making a decision. You can chat on here as much as you like. I'm thinking your head probably hurts also from trying to figure out what's best.

Do you have something to take your mind off it for a bit this evening?

My lovely wife has just come home from work and we are going to have rice paper rolls with peanut dipping sauce.

Sometimes I eat too much asian food nowadays. lol

What time are you rostered on till today? I would like to chat after dinner if you are around.

Re: Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

@down_not_out I am super envious of your dinner. You know Vietnamese is my absolute favourite food. I LOVE it. I'm vegan and the way they do their vegetarian food is soooo good. Anyway I hope you have a nice dinner. I'm off now until tomorrow. I'll be back in at 10 so I can chat to you then? If not I'll be around Thursday. I'll check in and see what you reply.

Take care

Hanami

I had a really good sleep last night. It was a relief after a few nasty 'wake in fright' episodes this week.

In the last week or so. I've been reaching out to supportive people in my life after placing myself in self-imposed exile. Maybe this is helping me process some stuff in my brain and is leading toward less intense dreams.

Thanks for all the support.
