Fidgeting/stimming? Not unless it's causing you pain/permanent damage. You mentioned your finger gets red sometimes - maybe at those moments you can just find a different stim. In my opinion, we shouldn't aim to cease self-soothing behaviours all together, just find others to add in the mix so that we are not injuring ourselves or leaning too heavily on one in particular.

 

Ever gotten yourself some fidget toys? Kmart have heaps now, in all diff forms. My latest fav are these stretchy noodle thingies - they look like this:

I love em cos they allow me to do hand flapping movements, and I can stretch em out, spin em round, all sorts. So far, they've kept my attention the longest, out of all the stim toys I've purchased over the years since getting diagnosed ADHD.
