Re: centerlink rules have changed

@brockovich86,

This is awesome, thanks sharing this practical advice!

I'm sure it'll help out a lot of people on here.

Re: centerlink rules have changed

I haven't thoroughly read this thread, but thought I'd mention how unimpressed I am with C'link

I have a friend with cancer, and they want to put her on Newstart in 6 months, as she should be fully recovered by then.......like, where do they get these ideas?

Re: centerlink rules have changed

@itt. Just read this thread. I hope things have improved dramatically for you with regards to centrelink.
I'm on WorkCover and Newstart (single parent). WorkCover keeps sending me to their psychiatrists fir reviews every few months. I gave copies of these reports to the social worker at centrelink. Last report 12 months ago said I have some capacity to work. My gp fills out a centrelink medical certificate staring that I have no capacity due to x y & z & what my ongoing treatment is eg: medication, psycholigist appointments etc. This us enough normally to get them off my back.
I don't know if they just don't realise the extra trauma they create for us - or whether they just don't care.

Don't believe any of it, Centrelink refused to accept my psychiatrist recommendations for sup

Re: centerlink rules have changed

Hi there

I haven't been following this thread, it just popped up in my emails.

I have a friend with leukemia. Centrelink have given her 6 months off before she has to go back to seeking full-time work.

If those making the decisions had to live by those decisions, there would be a lot more realistic requirements, don't you think?

Re: centerlink rules have changed

That is so unfair...

Re: centerlink rules have changed

@BlueBells. Bloody disgusting treatment of your friend.

Re: centerlink rules have changed

It seems impossible to comprehend.

Her specialist wrote a letter for her saying that earliest she can consider full time work is 5 years time, and that depends on many things.

This happened about four months ago. She is to be assessed for more treatment in a couple of months, but it depends on current treatment, you know how it goes.

At the moment, she is in hossy, pretty crook.

Centrelink....only seem to make it easy for the fit and able who are too darn lazy to work 😞

Re: centerlink rules have changed

Just noticed, I commented on this thread in May. Six months. At the moment, I'm not sure if she'll see six months.

I preferred the name unSociable inSecurity. Much more appropriate than Centrelink. 🙂

Re: centerlink rules have changed

Hi there. I just came across this thread. I work in an organisation to deals with not for profit organisations. One of them houses people with mental health. Currently organisation is concerned cause the govt may be looking to cut funding to mental health 😞 Given the stats this is just so troubling!
