Not Coping

Re: Tw Not Coping

Oh okay @outlander

Is it a group home you work in?

Re: Tw Not Coping

it depends on the day @Birdofparadise8
i can be working in a group home, or a group of clients in an outing or 1:1 or up to 1:3

Re: Tw Not Coping

Ah, okay at least you have a variety @outlander

Re: Tw Not Coping

its still the same clients day in and day out @Birdofparadise8 it just depends on the capacity or activity thats required to be done.
it depends on whether clients move to another house etc as well. ive worked with alot of different clients but have the same clients consistently for as long as needed and i dont get the option to change unfortunatly either as its a smaller company meaning limited clients. i think we only have around 10 clients at the moment but they get assigned a couple of specific support workers. i have worked with all 10 and when i do 1:1 supports its usually because they need to go out or their care planning needs reviewed and im trained to do them so i can work with each of those clients and their allocated support workers to sit and update things as required. its actually quite boring otherwise esp in the group home im in more and more right now.

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8, sorry I didn’t reply. I got distracted 🙃. Have you had dinner?

@outlander, does apart of enjoy the work? From the sounds of things, it sounds like it can be really full on

Re: Tw Not Coping

i enjoy working @creative_writer but i dont like the job im doing right now. the clients ive been mostly working with honestly dont really require that much care and it feels like a waste of time sometimes. ive spent most of the shift watching tv yet again. cook clean, help with a shower. day in. day out. boring. relenting. soemtimes it can be full on but its really not a big issue. sometimes the client here acts out because hes decided he hasnt had enough attention for the day so behaviours start up

Re: Tw Not Coping

My dad is the same he works 8 shifts a fortnight with one client for the past 10 years I think and then a couple of days at the hospital as an orderly so he likes the variety @outlander

Can I ask do you like your job?

Re: Tw Not Coping

I haven't really had anything I'm so full lol. I'll show you what I got today @creative_writer

Re: Tw Not Coping

i like working but i dont like where i am right now. im in the right industry but the wrong job currently @Birdofparadise8 its to boring and repetitive. i like variety. when i get to work with other clients or do the 1:1 upport with another client i dont normally get to work with i enjoy it.
i work up 5-6 shifts a week with the same 3-4 clients normally but it depends on the setting im required for. im one of the highest trained people here including how to do diabetic injections so i also do staff training for new staff members or to upskill current workers meaning i can sign off on care plans and teach staff so if we get work placement students etc i am able to sign off on their practical work etc as well.

Re: Tw Not Coping

I'm also really bloated I think I drank too much prune juice lol. I've been, you know constipated so I got some juice, but yeah very uncomfortable. Sorry if that was TMI @creative_writer
