Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Well done @Oaktree

I have not been on my exercise bike today as still recovering from falling in the garden

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Oh dear @Shaz51 sorry you hurt yourself. Hope you're healing.

Well done @Oaktree . I'm walking but still not consistent with osteopath exercises.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

I'm still walking, not as far or as fast. I gave up on other exercises until I can get my other issues sorted. But I'm more active in the house and garden so I'm on my feet a lot more.

How are you going with your exercise bike @Shaz51 ?

You are kicking goals!

I am not walking at the moment but would like to be. I need to leave the house…

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

@Oaktree the hard part is putting on shoes and opening the door. The rest just follows and can be as little or as much as you like.

@Dimity

Thanks for the reminder that I can start small. I guess I get stuck in the mindset that I need to walk miles. Maybe just around the big block will be enough to start. There are some hills involved.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Way to go @Dimity 😊

Been active in the house and garden too

But have not been on the exercise bike in ages

Will need to get back to it

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Just 5 or 10 minutes is fine to start with @Oaktree @Shaz51 . Just enough to stretch those muscles and breath/get your heart rate up a little.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Hello @Dimity thanks for your example. I agree changing habits requires re-wiring of the brain incrementally over time. Setting out to complete a herculean exercise routine is counterproductive as it instills fear in the mind because the mind thinks its insurmountable. Small steps day-by-day change the physiology of the brain and make the possibility achievable and less daunting. Even if its just a walk to the end of the street for a few minutes each day.

Re: Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

I think you're right @Former-Member . That was my philosophy when I started.
