Welcome and getting started

Welcome! Introduce yourself here ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi, I'm new here.

Starting life again at 50 and just trying to find some support and community to stop it from feeling so horrible.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello and welcome @Moonchild25 โค๏ธ

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here ๐Ÿ™‚

Absolutely welcome @Moonchild25 ! I'm sorry to hear that things are a little horrible at the moment.

Is there anything you feel we can do to make it more bearable for you? We're a pretty chill bunch of people over here.

Some like to make us laugh. Some like to make us ponder. Some like to make us try new things.

What are things you are interested in doing in your spare time?

@Shaz51 @Someonetotalkto

Looking foward to getting to know you.

Hey Everybody! New here, just a pretty (i think๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ˜‚) introvert mentally bogged in life. Iโ€™m a Wife/Mother and some do say both can be some hard yakka! I personally havenโ€™t been myself since becoming both so I decided before I lose myself completely letโ€™s seek professional help! Boy was that a waste๐Ÿ˜ž ended up wasting money and precious time with the Family I โ€œfeltโ€ needed a better me.

guess thereโ€™s always a chance elsewhere right? Hope this helps us all ๐Ÿค

Hello @FastVent_, thank you so much for sharing your story and welcome to the community! We are all here to help and encourage you to rediscover yourself. ๐Ÿ‘

It sounds like you have a really interesting journey of self-reflection and exploration ahead. I hope that things start to feel more balanced with your family and partner throughout this journey too. ๐Ÿ’›

Thankyou!! Your reply was much appreciated!! On to better things for us all๐Ÿ’›

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here

Hey,

Iโ€™m a chick in my mid twenties, dealing with moderate but long term mood disorders (dysthymia, social anxiety, general anxiety) for like, the past 10-15 years. Also diagnosed with combined adhd, and suspected dyscalculia.
Iโ€™m in a financially precarious situation, which means I canโ€™t afford any mental health care except my monthly $7 antidepressant prescription ๐Ÿคช

Moved from a small town to a huge city about 12 months ago. Itโ€™s helped a bit. But. Itโ€™s made me somehow even more lonelier than I thought was possible.

Itโ€™s gotten to the point where even the most surface level information about myself is embarrassing. โ€˜What do you do for a living?โ€™ Iโ€™m a waitress. โ€˜What do you do for fun?โ€™ Look at photos of my dead dog, write self insert fanfiction and watch fleabag for the 80th time all while eating a share size bag of maltesers. โ€˜Omg do you have a boyfriend?โ€™ The thought of going on a first date makes me physically nauseous. โ€˜Youโ€™re so pretty, whatโ€™s your secret?โ€™ Idk having no friends gives me a lot of time to screw around with makeup and being too depressed to eat keeps me slim. The rack is genetics. Sorry.

I donโ€™t know. What to do except put one foot in another.

My resilience, my independence is praised even when I so openly talk about my mental illness. Maybe people would actually listen to my pleas for help if I started crying everywhere I went.
And I know it will get better. And it has gotten better but only fractionally and marginally so, at great emotional and financial expense.
But at the same time. I feel like Iโ€™ve lost my teens, my early twenties, to this sickness of the mind. A half-life. Spent asleep and crying and stuck in memory and self loathing more than anywhere else.

Whatever this has gotten way longer than I expected.

Iโ€™ll be fine. Iโ€™m just sick of currently feeling like shit.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here

Hi @indigocyclone and welcome

I'm glad you've found this space to come and connect and share a bit about yourself.

I noticed that you've mentioned how hard it can be to get mental health support when you're limited financially and I just wanted to share some support options that could be available to you:

You mentioned that you're in your mid-20s, Headspace offers free mental health supports to young people up to 25 years old.

SANE also has a free Guided Recovery program that you might like to check out here.

If you speak to your GP about getting a mental health care plan there are also quite a few only psychology clinics that offer bulk-billed sessions, if you search for 'bulk billed online psychologist Australia' a whole list will come up and you can see if any seem right for you.

Aside from that, we do have a great community here and hopefully reaching out here is a step towards feeling a bit less alone.
