hello @Former-Member
I am a carer for my mum who is 90 now , it is very exhausting and i will have to ring the Carer Gateway too as over time my mum will need more care
my husband has bipolar 2 and other diagnosis so we are self employed and we have had to cut back on work due to his health , my physical health and my mum
sometimes having a quiet cry does help us to carry on
a flower from my garden to you

Hi @Shaz51
I'm doing okay thanks for asking - not feeling good per se but wouldn't say I was doing badly - just a bit anxious and unsettled. I find it helpful to hop onto the forum at times like this to support and be supported. How and what are you doing today?

@Shaz51 if that is a cookies and cream cheesecake, then you are woman after my own heart!
An afternoon off sounds just like what the soul ordered – you have quite a bit of care giving on your plate. Never apologise for 'venting', that's what the space is all about. Happy we can share ups and downs here in the forum.
The new room sounds like your mum will have a safe space to call her own, which is so important for our loved ones who battle with independence and all that comes with aging. It's so nice to hear that you're able to take care of her at home, but I hope you're carving in some Shaz51 time too.

I thought I might have detected that it was a work in progress, the good ol' care givers fatigue is real. Keep working on doing things for you and carving out that time, it's a great reminder for us all!

No good @Former-Member it must be so hard having to be indispensable to your family while they are sick and ageing with no help from siblings.
When I am wrung out I do a yogic restorative practice called "legs up the wall" it is something I use in my mental health aid toolkit.
Legs up the wall is easy to do anyone can do it. You just put your butt near the base of a wall and guide your legs up until you are in an "L" shape with your legs vertically up the wall and your back flat on the ground.
I do it for about 15-20 minutes for its rejuvenating effects. My chronic tiredness and burnout is immediately alleviated.
Please google "legs up the wall pose" online if you feel so guided to do this practice and check for health contraindications.
