Hi everyone this is my day 25 photo. We had gotten to the hut by 11 and we had felt pretty good as today’s walk had been pretty easy we ate lunch and decided to press on to the next hut 8.5k away and also do a couple of side trips to some water falls. My wife re patched her feet and we spoke to the other groups of hikers who were there and everyone decided to go to the next hut. This photo is one I took before we set off 💜

Hi everyone this is my day 26 photo it is of DuCane hut this is an historic hut and you can only stay in it in case of emergency. This is the last photo I took on this day. It ended up being our longest and hardest day. This photo is taken about an hour into the second half of the walk and just after this we were back in the forest and it was super slippery and heaps of tree roots that section would be the easiest to break a leg or twist an ankle. It was about an hour until we got to the side trip for the waterfalls and by then we were not doing great. We decided to give them a miss then the track got harder. It went up hill for quite some time it just seemed to keep going up. We got to the top DuCane gap at just after 4 and there was a German couple that we had been walking with waiting for us to make sure we were ok that was so lovely. We had a break and for the first time we had emptied our water bladders and had to use our emergency supplies. We started walking down hill to the next hut at 4:30 and the German couple kept us in sight for the whole way down this is the way on the track people you don’t really know will look out for you. This section was interesting big steps down heaps of mud and roots but it was the prettiest section although I was so stuffed I really didn’t appreciate it as much as I could have. We got to camp at 5:30 stuffed sore my wife’s feet were in a bad way it had been a hard day starting at 8 and finish at 5:30 and 18k of very tough walking 💜

Hi everyone this is my day 27 photo this is the start of our day 5 on the track. There are two options for finishing off the walk you can walk out from  narcissist hut along the lake this is an extra walk or you can catch a boat across the lake. Our plan had always been to walk out but we were both very sore and my wife’s feet were in a bad way with blisters so we decided to finish with a boat ride. So this is our last day so only a short walk to go and all “down hill” apparently lol 💜
