Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

That sounds lovely! I've never been to Kew. Even though I've lived in Melbourne for over 13 years, I still don't feel it is 'home'. I grew up on the shores of Sydney, and somehow still feel Sydney is home - even though I'd never want to go back to live there. @Glisten

Question: When can a person call a place they've moved to, home?

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@tyme  Home is a place you don’t want to escape.

The length of time doesn’t matter.

I was born in Sydney raised in Newcastle.

Had my children in Bundaberg - don’t judge me, it was a pretty little town 39 years ago.

Escaped QLD 1994 went to Perth ❤️

Now I’m trying to heal my trauma and escape QLD again :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@Glisten , @tyme

Parts of FNQ are back a little bit

My dad and I were born here and my mum moved here from Brisbane in 1934

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

Awww that is lovely @Shaz51 were your Daddy’s parents born there?

I admire your resilience. Since I have been in QLD, feel like the suburban wildlife is trying to eradicate me 🦎🐍🕷🐡 birds like pterodactyls 😩

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@Glisten

My dad's parents came here in 1918, newly married and grand dad built the house

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@tyme  I’m possibly not far from you, Im in Geelong.

I lived in Hoppers Crossing for about 10years to be closer to work.

after my mum died I decided to come home to Geelong.

I have a water phobia but love sitting looking out over the bay at the waves

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@Patches59  That is fascinating - a water phobia. I have never met anyone with this.

I want ask you all about it. But that would be most inconsiderate of me.

Thank you for sharing.

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

No probs @Glisten   I have a fear of drowning.

remember mum saying when I was very young and in baby bath she looked away for short period of time. When she looked back I was face down in the water.  Swimming pools, streams, the beach etc I start to panic as soon as water gets approx halfway up my shin

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@Patches59

If you’re mother had never told you, would it still be a phobia?

Hypnosis?

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

I’ve had a fear of drowning for as long as I can remember, well before my mum told me about the baby bath incident
