Life challenges

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 I have written a list of things I need to talk to my GP about. I

I have been taking medications to help with the nausea but it's not having an affect. Not sure if it's not working anymore or if maybe I have some sort of bug but I haven't been anywhere to catch anything.

I don't have anyone that could assist me so I'm trying to get through with what I have here until I'm able to get out.

I will be asking this week about ways I can get support with managing day to day tasks and getting out to get shopping etc.

Re: Life challenges

@Hopeandlove sounds like you are still thinking clearly and you are advocating for yourself which is excellent.

Don’t forget Cancer Council for suggestions for help with things they are very good

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 I will try and ring the cancer council when I have a bit of energy.

Re: Life challenges

Or @Hopeandlove just check out their website. The phone line is not 24/7. I’m sure you are exhausted though.

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 didn't think to check out their website. Brain isn't quite with it.

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 @Snuggles @MJG017 @tyme @ just thought I would give you an update. I had my phone appointment with my GP today and he called an ambulance to get me taken to hospital. I've been admitted as I'm severely dehydrated and tests have shown that I have sepsis on top of everything else going on. I may not be on much as I'm sleeping alot and if I'm not sleeping I'm not completely with it anyway

Re: Life challenges

@Hopeandlove Thanks so much for the update.
I am so glad you went through with GP appointment and are now in hospital being properly treated.

I was extremely worried about your fluid intake and fatigue in the last couple of days. It sounded like you needed to be in hospital.

Hopefully you are on IV fluids and antibiotics and are able to just rest without needing to prepare food etc.

Try to just let the staff help you and just have a good rest and not worry about being looked after.

Were still here when you’re well enough to get on the forums and I will look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 when I spoke to my GP and let him know what had cen happening he straight away new something was wrong. I'm on IV fluids and antibiotics and they have given me something for the nausea which is helping, it's great to not feel sick for the first time in the last few days.

I'm not able to get up to walk which means I need help with going to the toilet which feels so degrading and embarrassing.

Having been so independent and now having to be dependent on others is a big adjustment for me to have to accept.

I'll keep you updated when I can. Thankyou for your support 💙

Re: Life challenges

I’m so glad you’re having a positive experience with your treatment @Hopeandlove

Yes, I have a healthcare background, which is why I was so concerned and suggested calling an ambulance yourself, but you’re where you need to be now.

It is hard to depend on other people when you’ve been so independent. I had some problems with that too. However, it is the best thing to have that support right now. The staff are used to assisting patients and it is their job, so try not to feel bad about it.

I wish you a speedy recovery and relief from symptoms.

Re: Life challenges

Heya @Hopeandlove

I’m so glad you’re in the right place to get the care you need. We have all been so worried about you.  Please focus on resting and letting the nurses and dortors look after you.

We’re all thinking of you and sending lots of strength and positive thoughts your way. Take it one step at a time, and when you’re up to it, we’ll be here for you.

Warmest regards

Snuggles 🥰 🫂
